Sarojini Naidu

Naidu was the first Indian woman to become the President of the Indian National Congress and the first woman to become the governor of a state in India.

He became famous for undertaking a fast-unto-death for achieving the state of Andhra and losing his life in the process. His sacrifice became instrumental in the linguistic re-organisation of states. He is revered as Amarajeevi (Immortal being) in Andhra Pradesh for his sacrifice. Lata Mangeshkar (Marathi/Hindi:लता मंगेशकर) (born September 28, 1929) is an Indian singer. Focusing mainly on Bollywood film music, she is considered one of the foremost Indian vocalists of all time. She has sung in over twenty[1] major Indian languages and has been dubbed the Nightingale of India[2][3][4][5], an honorary name also used for Sarojini Naidu and M. S. Subbulakshmi. Popular singer Asha Bhosle happens to be one of her sisters.
Lata Mangeshkar is only the second Indian singer to have received the
Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour,the other being M. S. Subbulakshmi. In fact, no other Indian singer of non-classical music has been awarded anything higher than the Padma Bhushan, the nation's third highest civilian honour as of April 2007.
In 1974 Mangeshkar Recorded in the
Guinness Book of World Records for having sung the most songs in the world. The claim was that she has reportedly recorded not less than 25,000 solo, duet and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 to 1974. However, reputed sources have introduced concerns for its veracity claiming that her sister, Asha Bhosle has recorded more songs than Mangeshkar

She started her acting career as a drama artist, which was more popular those days. She slowly migrated from dramas to cinemas just as most actors did those days. During her initial days in the cine field, she concentrated more on comedy. She was given equally challenging roles alongside the well known comedian Nagesh. They made an excellent pair and gave many praiseworthy comedies.

Thillana Mohanambal was much appreciated and noticed even with the presence of great stalwarts like Sivaji Ganesan and Natiya Peroli (Danseuse) Padmini in the movie. Sunil Manohar Gavaskar pronunciation (help·info) (Marathi:सुनिल मनोहर गावसकर) (born July 10, 1949 in Mumbai, Maharashtra), nicknamed Sunny, was a cricket player during the 1970s and 1980s for Bombay and India. Widely regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in the Indian Test history, Gavaskar set world records during his career for the most runs and most centuries scored by any batsman. He held the record of 34 Test centuries for almost two decades before it was broken by Sachin Tendulkar in December 2005. He was widely admired for his technique against fast bowling, with a particularly high average of 65.45 against the West Indies, who possessed a four-pronged fast bowling attack regarded as the most vicious in Test history. His captaincy of the Indian team, however, was less successful. The team at one stage went 31 Test matches without a victory. There were incidents like crowd displeasure at Eden Gardens in Calcutta leading to multiple matches being disrupted, in response to the poor performance of the Indian team. Turbulent performances of the team lead to multiple exchanges of captaincy between Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, with one of Gavaskar's sackings coming just six months before Kapil led India to victory at the 1983 Cricket World Cup.

Kattassery Joseph Yesudas (usually referred to as Dr. K. J. Yesudas or Jesudas, Malayalam: കാട്ടശ്ശേരി ജോസഫ് യേശുദാസ് , also nicknamed "Gana Gandharvan") (born January 10, 1940) is an eminent Indian classical musician and leading playback singer of film songs in many Indian languages.

K.J. Yesudas was born in Fort Kochi, Kerala to Augustine Joseph and Elizabeth Joseph. His father, who was his first guru (teacher), was a well-known Malayalam classical musician and stage actor of his time. He joined the Music Academy in Thrippunithura and won a gold medal for music at a local competition in Fort Kochi at age seven. He was trained by the Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar who was one of the senior most performers of the time in Classical Music, and this training, abruptly cut short by the guru's demise in 1974, still stood him in good stead. Although a Carnatic expert he also learned Hindustani Music.His voice lends itself well to both Indian classical, devotional and popular songs. He has recorded more than 40,000 songs for many languages including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati, Oriya, Marathi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tulu, Russian, Arabic, Latin and English through his long career.

Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao

Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao (Telugu: ఘంటసాల వెంకటేశ్వరరావు)(1922-1974) born in Choutapalli, near Gudivada was a singer and composer of Telugu film music. Gifted with what V.A.K.Ranga Rao called "The most majestic voice", and sound formal music training he received from Sri Patraayani Sitarama Saastri (Saaluuru Chinna Guruvu Garu), he helped Telugu film music develop its own distinct character ,so much so, that, for nearly half a century, his was the voice of Telugu films. He was Telugu cinema's first playback singer for movies.
As a freedom fighter he was jailed for two years in
Alipore. He served as the 'Aaasthana Gaayaka(court musician)for the TTD. He was also a recipient of the Padma Shri.
The famous renderings of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao include BhagawadGita, Patriotic Songs, Padyalu (unique genre of Telugu - singing the verses in dramatic style), filmsongs, folk songs etc. He introduced the technique of changing the voice pitch and diction to suit the actor singing the songs on the screen. People were so enamoured by this that they started imagining the hero of the movie just by listening to him sing over the radio. Such was his brilliance.

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam, (Telugu:బాల సుబ్రమణ్యం) is a prolific Indian singer. He is also known as S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, S.P.B. and Baalu in the media.
He was born as Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam into an orthodox Saivite family on June 4, 1946 in Konetammapeta in the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh . He is the second son in a large family of three sons and five daughters. His father S. P. Sambamurthy was a well-known exponent of Harikatha and his sister S.P. Sailaja is a former actress-singer in Telugu.
When he was 21, he fell in love with the daughter of the owner of the house he was staying on rent. His parents objected to their union as the girl was of same "Gothram" (lineage), as this was prohibited in conservative
Brahmin families. They eloped and got married at Simhachalam, Andhra Pradesh accompanied by Ilaiyaraaja,Bhaskar,Anirutta and Gangai Amaren,who were his best friends.[1] The name of his wife is Savithri. The early days of the couple at Chennai was very difficult and tough. The couple have two children namely Pallavi and Charan, who has a production company named Capital Film Works

Akkineni Nageswara Rao (born September 20, 1924 at Venkataraghavapuram, Dist. Krishna, Andhra Pradesh), also known as ANR, is a film actor from Gudivada Andhra Pradesh. He is one of the first fully commercial Telugu Cinema heroes. His films include a diverse range of genres which include mythological, folk tale, social, adventure and drama. He acted with NTR who is one of the greatest actors of India for almost 40 years. Nageswara Rao was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1990 for lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. He is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
He is the first person to cause the shift of
Telugu film industry to Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh from Chennai, Tamilnadu in an attempt to bring together the mother tongue of industry and industry itself. Soon after the move to Hyderabad, Nageswara Rao founded his own production house, Annapoorna Studios located in Banjara Hill.

Cingireddy Narayana Reddy (born July 29, 1931, Hanumajipeta, Karimnagar district) is an Indian poet, a winner of the Jnanpith Award in 1988 for his contribution to Telugu literature.

Dr Reddy subsequently worked in Osmania University as a professor. His students often recollect his grip over the language, especially his poetry reading sessions.
He became known to a wide public as a lyricist for several famous Telugu films.
The
Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1977 and the second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan in 1992. He was conferred with the Raja-Lakshmi Award in the year 1988 from Sri Raja-Lakshmi Foundation, Chennai.
He won the
Jnanpith Award for his poetic work Viswambara, which has been translated into three other languages. He became one of only two Telugu persons who have received that award, the other being Viswanatha Satyanarayana.
Dr Narayana Reddy was nominated to the
Rajya Sabha.

N. T. Rama Rao

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (Telugu:నందమూరి తారక రామా రావు)(28 May 192318 January 1996), more commonly known as N.T. Rama Rao, NTR, Pedala Pennidhi by his fans, or Anna garu, was an Indian film actor, director, producer, and politician. [1] [2] He founded the Telugu Desam Party and served three times as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. His repertoire of films included mythological, social, and folk themes. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in the 1960s, recognising his contribution to Telugu cinema. After his film career, Rao became a political activist and party leader.
He was born in Nimmakuru,
Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Andhra-Christian College of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. He later received an honorary doctorate from Andhra University.
Rao highlighted Andhra Pradesh's distinct cultural identity, distinguishing it from
Madras State with which it was so often associated.

S. V. Ranga Rao

Samarla Venkata Ranga Rao (b. 3 July 1918 - d. 18 July 1974) was an iconic South Indian actor, director and producer. He has an important place in the film history of South India (both in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu). He was an internationally recognised actor and is popularly known as "Vishwanata Chakravarthi."
He was considered to be a versatile actor and the first actor of his kind with the famous mannerism "orey dongrey" from the film "Jagath Jettilu" he is the household name in Andhra Pradesh. He died on
July 18, 1974 suffering a severe cardiac arrest. But, he continues to live in the annals of Tollywood and Kollywood film history.

Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna (transliterated variously as M. Balamuralikrishna, Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna, M. Balamurali Krishna; Telugu: మంగళంపల్లి బాలమురళిక్రిష్ణ) (b. Sankaraguptam, Andhra Pradesh, India, July 6, 1930) is a famous Carnatic Music vocalist and musician. He has also composed a number of songs.
Balamuralikrishna was named Murali Krishna at birth. Musunuri Suryanarayana Murty Bhagavatar, a distinguished
Harikatha performer, gave the prefix 'Bala' to the young Muralikrishna. This title has stuck to him ever since. Balamuralikrishna was a child prodigy and started performing vocal concerts from the age of five. His father was a well known musician and could play the flute, violin and the veena and his mother was an excellent veena player. Balamuralikrishna thus began his musical career at a very young age. He soon mastered a variety of instruments. He can play the violin, viola, khanjira, veena, mridangam and other instruments. He has been awarded the All India Radio's "Top Grade" for seven different performance areas and is also the only musician ever to win National Awards in India for classical music, music direction and film playback singing.

Gandhi is commonly known in India and across the world as Mahatma Gandhi (Sanskrit: महात्मा mahātmā — "Great Soul") and as Bapu (Gujarati: બાપુ bāpu — "Father").
